Five-Year Strategic Plan Development and Implementation

The U.S. subsidiary of a multi-billion dollar global bank recently appointed a CEO who sought to evaluate the division’s current position and develop a five-year strategic operating plan to re-energize the bank and drive growth.

HighPoint was engaged to develop the client’s strategy, initially deploying a team of four, all with extensive consulting and operating experience in the financial services sector. The HPA team lead had almost 20 years of financial services experience at McKinsey and Company and held executive roles at international publicly traded Fortune Global 500 banks.

The HighPoint team evaluated the current performance of the bank, conducted a competitive analysis for each of the bank’s lines of business, and developed a comprehensive growth plan with a concentration on strategic segments, expansion of targeted areas of business and modernization of all operations and IT.

The team laid out a long-term strategy along with a series of a dozen interrelated initiatives with implementation plans for each, including responsibility, timing and targets, ultimately working with management to execute against selected plans over an 18-month period.
